Garden Team: This is our general pool of volunteers interested in helping out in our community gardens! We would love to see you attend (and organize) work parties to mulch and weed shared spaces, as well as help out gardeners who could use extra hands in their plots. You can sign up in Timecounts for specific volunteer shifts, or as a general volunteer to learn about opportunities.

Translation Team: Speak languages other than English? Help us translate our materials to reach our diverse, multilingual gardening community! No set time commitment – sign up to translate as much or as little as you want. Learn more and apply on Timecounts.

Fruit Recovery: In the summer, Urban Bounty organizes teams of volunteers to pick from urban fruit trees to distribute to food banks (with plenty leftover to take home for ourselves)! Sign up to attend and lead fruit picks. Learn more and apply on Timecounts.

Forest Garden Stewards: Forest gardens are an ancient Coast Salish forestry technique that create layered ecosystems for food gathering. Inspired by forest gardens and by the permaculture concept of “food forests,” we have planted a small grove of species including apple, salal, huckleberry, strawberries, and yarrow in Paulik Park. The Paulik Park Forest Garden is only one year old, and needs your help to become established and thrive!

  • Weed and mulch the forest garden
  • Water the trees weekly during the summer
  • Harvest fruit respectfully from the plot- take what you need and leave enough for others
  • Record your volunteer hours by signing in and out of the volunteer sheet in the shed each time you garden.

You will contribute meaningfully to your community by engaging people in ways they can contribute to and benefit from their local food system. Opportunities include boothing at events, creating graphics for posters and social media, and photography!
